The product manager role is a tough sell. More often than not either the product manager does not work on strategy, or the company does not see a need to involve the individual, based on my experience working in mid, large, and startup companies. The way I circumvent this is by being as knowledgeable as I can be in the domain, showing that and continually educating management on our role 🙂 It has worked but it is painful.
