Hi Mariusz,

Thank you for sharing your questions. The actions you suggested sound great to me. I would add validating the product strategy, if it contains any significant risks, and deriving an actionable product roadmap from it.

It sounds to me as if the root cause of the issue you are experiencing is the lack of an effective product discovery process. The following articles should help you address this issue:

Product Discovery Tips
Establishing an Effective Product Strategy Process

In order to create the product strategy, I recommend running a collaborative workshop with the key stakeholders, development team members, and Scrum Master. As the latter to facilitate the workshop. This includes setting ground rules, choosing a decision rule, for example, consent, and ensuring that everyone is heard and nobody dominates.

Hope this helps!

For a couple of sprints I have been accompanying a new team as a Scrum Master. Here is the context:
The product is around 4 years old and our clients, the department staff, are very satisfied with the product. That’s a good thing, but … that’s why they’re not very motivated to give our PO enough material for new US. That is the challenge: how do we get enough material for new features in our product? Or: How do we find out about the expectations of different departments so that we can create a roadmap?

After reading some of your articles in the meantime, I would describe the current status:
There is no such thing as a consciously developed product vision. The stakeholder analysis believe only partially. There is no such thing as regular product strategy reviews.

What course of action would you suggest to me? What went through my head:
– Carry out a stakeholder analysis in order to involve stakeholders that have not been considered
– Describe the current status of the product with the help of your Product Vision Board and use it as a springboard for creating a product vision for the next version
– Organize a collaborative workshop with the key stakeholders and the Scrum Team to develop the product strategy

What course of action would you suggest to me? There may be other steps, I need to take, that I don’t see. I am very grateful for your support.
