I enjoyed reading it and truly believe in what you mentioned above “A great way to foster a positive attitude is to cultivate gratefulness”.

Thanks for your thoughts and sharing it with us.

I’m a PM and a mindfulness ambassador working at SAP where we have a global mindfulness practice that’s trained 6000+ employees with another 6000 on the waiting list, if you’re still interested in how to make this available in a team or have your own ideas you want to discuss I’d be happy to share any experiences we’ve learnt.
I think linkedin is probably the lowest risk of spam way I can think of of sharing my contact details on here!

Thank you for your kind feedback Maarten. It’s great to hear that you find my writing helpful, and that you enjoyed my mindfulness post. I agree that practicing mindfulness can be hard: I sometimes just don’t want to be aware of my mental states and emotions, particularly when I don’t like them. I don’t have any experience with introducing mindfulness to groups of people in a workplace. But I recommend contacting Kathy Berkidge who might be able to help. Good luck!

Loved your book (Agile PM) and have been catching up on you blog. It is really inspiring. Especially liked this post as it provides practical guidelines on how to apply mindfulness in the life of a PO. Though the principles you put forward are simple, the application may take some time (at least it took me a couple of years to develop a daily mediation routine). Nonetheless I find it a great investment in both work and life in general. Working as a PO for a start-up myself I could probably not have faced the uncertainty that goes hand in hand with the creation of something new without daily mindfulness practice.

What I would like to ask you if you could share any thoughts or experiences in applying mindfulness practice to a group of people (e.g. management team or scrum team). For example, I feel it would be great to introduce the concept of ‘Beginning Anew’ (Thich Nhat Hanh) to the workplace. Yet I still encounter resistance to such concepts.

These techniques resonates with concepts I learn from the Landmark Forum. I now have a strategy to be a mindful, purposeful, open mind, creative, and have empathyou. Your post came just in time to show me the “how” of applying these principles.
