Most of the decision rules are for group decisions. The exceptions are “decide with discussion” and “decide without discussion,” where an individual makes the decision. Hope this helps!

It is as if I have just been automatically equipped with the ability to make better decisions because learning these decision rules has opened up defined channels I can always consider before choosing the best option.

Like always I love your posts.

On the same topic but different flavour, I find very interesting Fredkin’s paradox, basically states that among two good choices the worst choice is spending time evaluating choices.

I’ve seen very often that people focus too much on taking the perfect decision, by doing that they take the worst (not taking a decision).

Oscar

Thanks for your feedback, Christian. Great idea to map decision rules to authority levels!

1. Tell (maps to “PO decides _without_ discussion”)
2. Sell
3. Consult (maps to “PO decides _after_ discussion”)
4. Agree (maps to “Consensus” and “Majority Vote”)
5. Advise
6. Inquire
7. Delegate (guess what… )

However, I agree with both authors! Nice article!
